Tulum

    Tulum is one of the most important archaeological zones in the state of Quintana Roo, since it is the only site that faces the Caribbean Sea. In ancient times it had the name of Zamá that means dawn, its current name, Tulum, means "enclosure or wall". For the Mayans, this city was the main center of sea and land commerce in the area. Nowadays, it captivates everyone who visits it. This Mayan city was built on a cliff from which you can see the turquoise tones of the Caribbean Sea in all its splendor.

    It has more than 60 restored temples, El Castillo is the main building of the archaeological zone of Tulum, which is the most photographed site in the Riviera Maya, due to its peculiar location on the cliff. The Mayan city is surrounded by walls, each one symbolizing one of the elements: earth, water, air and fire. The reef in front of the coast forms the fourth wall and which made Tulum practically inaccessible.

    In Tulum, Mexico, although its main attraction is the archaeological site, it’s not the only wonder you can find around this magical town, since it has several kilometers of beaches and many hidden wonders, as it is Playa Paraiso Tulum, one of the most visited beaches in the area; you will find a beach called caleta Tankah known for being one of the most exuberant, due to the fact that large amounts of fresh underground water that passes through cenotes flows into it. Also, you can visit the inlet of Xel-Ha park where you have everything included and can snorkel unlimited. In addition, you can find several cenotes like the Grand Cenote, or you can take the Xenotes tour to see the four types of cenotes that exist in the Yucatan Peninsula. Near Tulum is Akumal, where you can see the natural habitat of the turtles, as well as enjoy the Yal-Kú lagoon.
